The Subtle Spiral Realigns
20-minute Verbal Nonsense Relaxation
Listen to meaningless nonsense to relax the mind and disrupt racing, looping thoughts that prevent sleep.
This is a new form of guided relaxation that leverages principles and techniques from neuroscience — based on the state of mind called hypnagogia, which is the strange hypnotic state that arises shortly before sleep — the state of mind characterised by disjointed, half-formed thoughts that float lazily through the brain as it begins to shut down its daytime wakefulness functionality.
This audio is designed to facilitate a shift into hypnagogia, by guiding through meaningless nonsense, that has no intention, no narrative, no structure, no direction, and no real content.
It has no meaning, because meaning is the domain of the wakeful brain, whereas the meaningless drift through sensation is the domain of sleep.
It’s not necessary to attempt to prevent or avoid thoughts arising in your mind — this is not a meditation practice. Intentional focus on quieting the mind is still a kind of intentional focus that causes the brain to become more alert — which is the opposite of sleep. The goal is here not to silence the brain (that happens automatically when you fall asleep) — the goal is simply to stop engaging those thoughts, to stop indulging them and chasing after them — which is what causes them to continue running.
Now, make yourself comfortable, and let your mind rest in my words, as your head rests on your pillow.
